Drake Celebrates His Birthday Vegas Style!

Drake had a GREAT time this past weekend, celebrating his 25th birthday at the super popular TAO in Vegas!
The star was in such high spirits, he even bought shots for everyone in the club! And the goodie bags didn't stop there…
After receiving twenty bottles of champagne, he went out into the crowd, surprising club-goers [...]

Check this out!

We were all under the seemingly well-informed notion that for the last couple of months, Joss Whedon has had nothing on his plate that didn't invovled assembling The Avengers. However, it turns out that not only has he NOT been working on the Marvel flick for the last several weeks, he's actually been working on an entirely different project completely in secret. No one knew a thing about it ... until now!

Over the weekend, Joss and some of the stars of his secret flick tweeted out that production had wrapped on Whedon's adaption of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. The flick has many familiar Whedonverse stars attached to it, including Ashley Jenson, Amy Acker, Alexis Denisof and Nathan Fillion and we're hearing from sources close to the man himself that Joss wrote and directed the piece. A website for the movie even popped up late last night!

Very sneaky sis Joss!

Still, we're thrilled to see it! Not as much as The Avengers, but we think you understand.

Wonder what this will be like?!

DJ Promotion Tips How To Get Better Paid Gigs In Clubs

"Box of Rain" was a highlight of the Grateful Dead's 1970 masterpiece, "American Beauty." The song was bassist Phil Lesh's tribute to his father, who was dying of cancer. The music for "Box of Rain" was composed by Lesh, who made of tape of the melody and gave it to longtime Dead lyricist Robert Hunter. The lyrics came quickly to Hunter, who is considered a member of the band though he never appears with the Dead on stage.

5 Reasons Why You Should Learn to Play the Guitar Online

Jazz is a form of music which is immensely popular with musicians as well as audiences. Some see it as a performers art, but others enjoy the complex rhythms and improvisation which is all part and parcel of the genre. Where did Jazz come from? There seems to be no single answer, but then again, there is no single type of jazz.

The INCREDIBLE Trailer For Snow White And The Hunstman Is Here!

Julia Roberts better sit the eff down, because The Evil Queen has ARRIVED - and her name is Charlize Theron!
Check out the EPIC, just-released theatrical trailer for Snow White and the Hunstman, which also stars Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth in the title roles (above)!
Yeah - we weren't sure what to expect, but HOLY SHIZ! [...]

Normally, we'd shun such a maneuver, but in actually, this might be the best thing for everyone, especially the Queen herself.

The studio behind Madonna's new movie W.E. has decided to push back the release date of the film to February 3rd. While the film will still run for a qualifying week in December (Oscars, Oscars, Oscars!), the official date has been pushed to capitalize on the hype of Madge in the new year. This new date is closer to the Super Bowl, where Madonna will be performing at the half time show, and the release of her new album.

Besides, if the flick makes its full debut at Christmas time, its going to have a lot more competition than it can handle. Too much, in fact. We don't want her movie to get lost in the shuffle ... do you?

Ask anyone, even Jazz experts or Jazz musicians and they will have very different definitions to describe the music, or they will tell you that defining Jazz is impossible. It is of course easy to identify when you hear it despite the diversity of the genre. It is a home grown, United States born music with its birthplace credited to New Orleans and it is highly associated with the South.

Last night I met up with my friend Jen and her friends Stacey and Mark at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA to see Cinderella live in concert. Now, back in the day — 25 years ago, when Cinderella first came onto the scene — I was too young to be allowed to see the band in concert. While I was never a huge fan of the band, I did like some of their music and enjoyed a bit that hair/metal music scene. Last night, on the band’s 25th anniversary tour, I finally got to see the band in action.

The show as no fluff, no frills … just straight rock and roll the entire time. The band played all of their hits and they sounded pretty damn amazing, too. If you closed your eyes, and I’m not even kidding, you would think you were rockin’ out to a Cinderella concert back in 1986. Of course, when you opened your eyes you’d see that all of those headbangers from back in the day have grown up to become, well, much older headbangers ;) The show as ridiculously fun and we had a blast. After the show, we made our way to The Standard for some late night eats and then called it a night. So fun.

Tonight, David and I are seeing X-Men: First Class and then I’m going out to Key Club to see kidneythieves live in concert. It’s the weekend (again), y’all! Enjoy!!

An Acoustic Drum Kit Versus an Electronic Drum Kit

Nowadays, people really enjoy listening to music, whether it is with traditional CD's, iPods, or even on the internet. There are many websites that offer online music selections. Most of the high quality tracks come from websites that let you pay for the service. There are also some websites that let you download songs for free, but these are usually from the independent artists. You could also listen to music online using internet radio. However, the disadvantage with this type of music is that you would only get to listen to the tracks. You won't be able to save them.

How to Keep Your Passion for Music

Music journalism in the UK - as we know it - began to flourish in the early 1960s just as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones came to prominence. However, this article looks at the current leaders in music news and reviews journalism/media in the UK. NME The New Musical Express (or the NME) is a weekly music news magazine in the United Kingdom and is the best known (and oldest) music publication in the UK, which was started March 1952.

Classical opera is a musical production that combines a musical score with a libretto (dramatic work or written storyline). An opera combines many different elements including acting, singing, dancing, costumes and music.

Movie Review: Tree Of Life

So … last night my friend Jordan asked me to accompany him to see the new Terrence Malick Film Tree of Life which stars Brad Pitt, Jessica Chastain and (briefly) Sean Penn. Some friends of mine, including David, saw the film and had mixed reactions to the film. Ever since I heard that Tree of [...]

Yesterday was a very nice, very relaxing, very quiet day … and it was just what I needed. Tamar and Rob invited us over to relax and do nothing at their place yesterday and we jumped at the chance to just … hang out. No one cooked, no one had to life a finger … it was glorious. The weather was perfect, the company was amazing … in short, it was the best Monday ever.

The only bit of work that we did was to walk half a block to Froyo Life for some AMAZING frozen yogurt … but believe me, it was worth the effort to walk instead of having the dessert delivered. The bulk of our day was spent laying around, talking, laughing and eating … not a bad day at all, I’d say. Late last night, I met up with my BFF Jordan and we went to see the Terrance Malick film Tree of Life (review to come). After all the running around I’ve been doing in teh past few weeks, I really needed the “day off”. The fact that David and I got to enjoy our quiet day with dear friends made the day even better.

No plans for tonight!! Thank you, Jebus. Happy Tuesday!

alexander-skarsgard-cover-interview-magazine.jpg

Scalding!!! He's never looked better EVER!

Alexander Skarsgard is this month's SMOKESHOW for Interview Magazine. While we paid more attention to the smoldering shots in the spread he did, courtesy of Steven Klein, we also found some of the tidbits he shared in his interview with Aracde Fire’s Win Butler quite interesting.

Check out some HIGHlights below:

Wanting diversity in his roles: “I do get a lot of scripts sent to me where they basically want me to play Eric from True Blood, but just a different name in a different movie. That’s not interesting to me. I don’t want to play a character that I’ve played for four years on a television show, change the name, and make him a zombie instead of a vampire.”

How he connects with the characters he plays: “In a weird way, I always play myself, just through different mirrors. If I read a script and I don’t connect with a character, if I can’t find the character on the page in my soul, then I’m not going to be able to do a good job.”

What types of roles he wants to play: “There’s got to be something new, something fresh. I want to almost be intimidated when I embark on a journey. I wouldn’t say there’s a fear, but I do get slightly nervous in the beginning when that happens, and I like that feeling. That triggers me a lot.”

Spoken like a true artist.

Wonder what aspects of himself he brings to Vampire Eric. Hopefully it's his glorious need to be nekkid all the time. Mmm!!!

Check out more hot shots of ASkars from the article in the spread (below).

Blake Lively Leonardo DiCaprio Caught In The Walk Of Shame?

Yesterday afternoon, David and I made our way to the ArcLight Theater in Hollywood, CA to catch an early showing of The Hangover Part II. Because I had an important concert to attend last night, I wanted to see the film before the weekend took hold and I missed seeing it altogether. Going into seeing this movie, I honestly wasn’t expecting very much. Everything I heard was that Part II was pretty much exactly like the original film … but set in Bangkok. I have to say, there really wasn’t anything new in the sequel that made it any better … but if you enjoyed The Hangover, chances are you will also enjoy The Hangover Part II.

I have to say … the movie was only incidentally funny. Someone gets hurt — laugh. Someone get’s a face tattoo — laugh. The monkey does something funny — laugh. But all the written jokes fell totally flat. The entire theater we were in was mostly silent for most of the film. I, personally, didn’t find many of the jokes funny but I didn’t hate the film. You deffo know what you’re in for before you even step foot in the theater … on that account, the movie does not disappoint. I guess I was expecting some change in the formula in this sequel to make it more interesting … but it was pretty much the same exact movie all over again … right down to the photo montage at the end with the credits. Was I entertained? Yes, mildly. Did I hate the film? Not really. Is it a great movie? I can’t say that it is … but, again, I think most people will know if they will like the film before they even seen the film. If you think you will enjoy The Hangover Part II, then you prolly will. If you think you won’t, you won’t.

Did any of y’all see The Hangover Part II yet? What did YOU think?

two-and-a-half-men-not-in-the-running-for-best-comedy-series-emmy

Yeah, after the year they've had, we're not surprised!

Although Two and a Half Men is apparently eligible for the nomination of Best Comedy Series at this year's Emmy Awards, sources close to the production have revealed that given the circumstances surrounding Charlie Sheen and his firing from the sitcom, Warner Brothers TV smartly decided to NOT submit it for the accolade!

However, the studio will be creating ad campaigns for series co-stars Jon Cryer, Holland Taylor, Angus T. Jones and Conchata Ferrell in support of their individual nominations, which are normally submitted by their representatives!

As for Sheen, he missed the April 29th deadline!

Shocker! LOLz!

Here's hoping that all of his co-stars get properly recognized for their amazing performances and work ethic, given the circumstances surrounding that this year! They all went above and beyond, and we think that deserves some serious nominations!

Fingers crossed, guys!

Cast your mind back to the first time that you heard that soul or rock singer who really captured your ear; the needle hit the groove and the band began to play, with the delicate croon of bluesy soul riding over the music beneath. Wouldn't it be great if we had them now, rather than the terrible pop stars that are force fed into our daily diet of music through the radio and TV?
