"I wanted to create a cold, ruthless character who wasn't vulnerable. On my new songs, I wanted to flick the situation around. I didn't want to come across as a victim. I'm not a bitch, but I wanted to expose that side of my character. I wanted to address the things that women don't usually talk about. Nobody will admit to playing power games in relationships, but they do."

We can't wait for April 30th in that case, because she's very, very proud of this album:

Yesterday we heard directly from Alicia Keys that she is working on her new album, and that it is on it’s way over to us shortly. The beautiful Alicia is on the upcoming cover of Vibe magazine looking fierce, and she has revealed to them too that her sixth album is on the way. Alicia has been around now more than a decade and she has seen huge success with her first few albums. She’s released five albums, won 14 Grammys and sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. She hasn’t been in the spotlight in the music industry for a little while though so I’m hoping that her 6th album will put her back there, where she deserves to be.

The singer-songwriter tweeted on Friday, “So excited to b in album mode!! It’s coming!!! Are you ready????;-)”

Doesn’t she look amazing on this cover? Alicia Keys has this rare quality where she looks extraordinary and ordinary at the same time. In this shot she looks like an incredible, sexy alien-like pop star but somehow I think she also always feels easy to relate to, down to earth and easy breezy. Her hair and makeup in this picture are so totally Alicia Keys‘ look of the moment – the unusual sculptured hair, strong dark lips and smoky, deep, eyes… I think we can expect to hear some similar qualities to that, aurally of course, in her new album. Maybe something a little bit more edgy, darker?

Charlie Sheen Today Show Appearance (Video)

Actor Charlie Sheen sat down and had a chat with Matt Lauer this morning on the Today show. It was a much different interview than the infamous ones he was giving a year ago when he was “winning”. In what I thought was a rather interesting interview Sheen said his comeback, which I will get to in a moment, is his way of apologizing to America. What he is of course talking about is not only is mega meltdown from last year but his new show Anger Management which is going to debut this summer on FX. Charlie goes on to talk about the show, the bitterness he still has towards Two and a Half Men as well as his substance abuse issues. Personally I thought the interview was handled very well. I think that Matt has some good questions, including one about the recent TMZ photos of Sheen at a Guns & Roses concert. However as I was watching Charlie speak I couldn’t help but wonder what was wrong with him and I don’t mean that in a he is back on drugs sort of way. After quite a few days of merely passing David in the halls here at home, due to his crazy bizzy work schedule, he and I managed to find some time to enjoy a very lovely dinner together at Red O in West Hollywood, CA. Dinner was really the highlight of my day because I spent the rest of the night working on taxes (which I’m *still* not finished with). I have to say, not getting to spend as much time with David is not fun … but he’s got some very exciting things happening with his new business venture Pop Up Pantry.

Normally, David and I would be happy to grab food at any ol place but he was in a very cheery mood so we decided to eat at Red O. I’ve only been to Red O once since it opened but, man, after last night’s meal … I’m anxious to go back. I enjoyed the best black bean mole steak dinner EVER! It was really delish. The time I got to spend with David was really nice and much needed.

Today, I have to get a 2 mile run in and I MUST finish compiling my tax numbers … otherwise I won’t be able to make the screening of Mirror Mirror tonight. I’m only kinda interested in seeing the film so … if I have to sacrifice seeing the movie in order to get my work done, so be it. Happy Hump Day, friends!!

Because Hollywood never seems to be able to think up new ideas, the decision was made to remake the 1990 film Total Recall. As you may know, those of you who have seen the original film, the original film starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone. This 2012 remake will star Colin Farrell and Kate Beckinsale. The full trailer for this Total Recall reboot won’t be out until Sunday … but today we get to check out the teaser trailer for the forthcoming full length trailer. I really loved the original film when it was first released, I’m only kinda marginally interested in seeing this remake. There is another female lead character … Melina. In 1990 she was played by Rachel Ticotin … in this remake she will be played by Jessica Biel. I dunno. I love the classic cheesiness of the original film … this remake already looks too polished.
